Agra Metro tickets are sold by the operator, not by hotel desks. On the open Yellow Line you can usually buy a token at the counter, a QR ticket from the official app or a TVM where installed, or tap an NCMC / GoSmart stored-value card.
Step 1: Use an operational station
Tickets exist only where passenger service exists. That is Taj East Gate through Mankameshwar. Construction boxes at ISBT or Sikandra are not ticket offices. Check Yellow Line if you are unsure.
Step 2: Pick the product
One or two tourist rides: QR or token. Daily commute: smart card (often about 10% less). See Agra Metro fare and the fare calculator.
Step 3: Pay and keep the ticket
UPI is the practical default. Scan at the flap to enter. Keep the same media to exit. A screenshot from a WhatsApp group is not a valid ticket.
Step 4: Security and exit
Bags go through screening. Pets and oversized tourist luggage are often refused. Women may use the reserved coach. If the gate rejects your QR, go to customer care before you leave the unpaid area.
Can I buy a ticket on the train?
No. Buy before you enter the paid area.
Do Taj visitors need a return ticket?
A single QR is one journey. Buy another QR or keep value on a card for the Fort hop to Ambedkar Chowk.
